Everything you need is in the box, but you can add what ever you like to your ecosystem plants, pebbles, rocks etc.

The sphere has its own self-contained ecosphere that requires no attention or help from the owner. This sphere needs to be placed in north facing windowsill or in indirect sunlight. Or you can put under artificial light for at least 6 hours a day as this causes the micro-algae to grow and the plants inside to produce oxygen for the scud. As the scud eat the algae they produce nutrients and carbon dioxide that helps the plants and algae grow. This sphere needs to be kept between 14°-28° C. This is a stunning decorative piece for the home or office. Please note: This package needs to be opened as soon as possible upon delivery as the ecosystem cannot survive for sustained periods without light.

If you do use other plants just make sure they're scud safe as they can and will eat all different types of plants. Hard plants like Hornwort, Anubias, Crypts work well.
